Stuart Herrington Illustration

I really struggled with this illustration, it was at this point I started to realise that something wasn’t quite right with how I was drawing. As I was doing these after work in a Cafe, I was using my iPad Pro as my device to show me the reference photo to the side of my sketchbook, this would turn out to be a problem and meant that turning my head to the side to draw made it really difficult to maintain accuracy in the proportions, even when trying to use my pencil to line things up. That’s the hard part of drawing from 2D, it’s easy and practical, but is actually harder to get accurate. Ideally, I would need my reference in front of me (as opposed to the side) and both the reference and sketchbook at a similar angle to my eye.
